A SCARCE COLT MODEL 1849 PERCUSSION POCKET REVOLVER IDENTIFIED TO ARMY OFFICER “REV. CHARLES EVANS” IN 1868. THE SCRIPT PRESENTATION ON THE BACKSTRAP READS, “REV. CHARLES EVANS, SAN FRANCISCO, 1868”. IT IS SERIAL # 262,735 WITH ALL MATCHING NUMBERS. MADE IN 1865 WITH A 6 INCH BARREL AND A NEW YORK ADDRESS. IT HAS NICE METAL & MARKINGS WITH A PARTIAL CYLINDER SCENE VISIBLE. ALL OF THE METAL ON THE GUN HAS AN UNTOUCHED NATURAL PATINA ON IT. THE BRASS BACKSTRAP & TRIGGER GUARD ARE ALSO UNTOUCHED. THE ORIGINAL GRIPS ARE ALSO NICE ON THE GUN. THE REVOLVER HAS A DEFINITELY WESTERN LOOK TO IT & WAS USED BY ARMY OFFICER & REV. CHARLES EVANS. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND EARLY COLT REVOLVERS INSRIBED TO A REVEREND ALONG WITH “SAN FRANSISCO, 1868” ON THE BACKSTRAP. THIS IS A VERY UNTOUCHED COLT PERCUSSION POCKET REVOLVER WITH DEFINITE WESTERN HISTORY TO IT. THIS COLT NEEDS FURTHER RESEARCH ON ITS HISTORY!
